NWA is made up of three counties, and many wonderful cities!
With so many cities to choose from, and many of them having outstanding amenities, it won’t be difficult to find the right one for you and your family when you consider relocating to NWA. Benton county consists of 13 cities; Bentonville, Bella Vista, Cave Springs, Centerton, Decatur, Gentry, Gravette, Little Flock, Lowell, Pea Ridge, Rogers, Siloam Springs, and Sulphur Springs. Washington county consists of 11 cities; Elkins, Farmington, Fayetteville, Goshen, Greenland, Johnson, Lincoln, Prairie Grove, Tontitown, West Fork, and Winslow. Finally, there is Madison county which consists of three cities; Hindsville, Huntsville, and St. Paul. Every city has their own little perks and cool spots, but there are multiple cities in our NWA metropolitan area that are simply a cut above the rest!
Fayetteville, which has a population of almost 87,000 people, is a great starting point when we brag about our cities. This city holds the county seat of the Washington county community and is known for their Walton Arts Center, the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, their historic Downtown Square, Dickson Street, and of course for being the home of the University of Arkansas. Fayetteville has many living options with homes, apartments, sustainable living facilities, and eco flats for rent or for sale. The home of the University of Arkansas stays busy, especially with almost 30k students that have so many living options around the city. Dickson Street is located perfectly for the U of A students, too. It is just off campus and a great place to let off steam, as it is known as a truly eclectic and unique entertainment district. This colorful, entertaining street is filled with bistros, restaurants, clubs, bars, and galleries; the Walton Arts Center can be found here as well. Dickson Street Entertainment District is also the focal point for Bikes Blues and BBQ! Fayetteville is full to the brim with fun, education, beautiful art, and a ton of history. In one day, in one city, you could visit an aweing botanical garden, watch a fantastic play, check out local art, have a drink with friends, and even watch a live concert in one of the pubs! Fayetteville is a wonderful city, but it is only one of many in NWA that are worth checking out.
Another great city found in Washington county is Siloam Springs. This city is quite a bit smaller than the last, with a population of only 17k. Don’t think that it isn’t worth a visit just because of its size, though! Siloam Springs is home to John Brown University, a private Christian college and this city is located adjacent to the Arkansas-Oklahoma line and is recognized as one of the nation’s best small cities! There are less living options than bigger cities, with only homes are apartments for sale or rent, but the city is close enough that if you’re more of a small town person you can definitely find your happy place here, and easily commute if needed. Siloam Springs is known for the Siloam Springs Kayak Park, the Siloam Springs Public Library, Simmons Food Headquarters, and casino’s! A visit here could be a fun trip with kayaking and casino’s all in the same city, and it is worth the time to check it out!
Springdale is also a well known NWA city with a great location! Around 81,000 people agree and have made it their home. Springdale’s central location makes it the perfect spot for families to live, particularly if one parent commutes north to Bentonville or Rogers for work and the other stays in Springdale or heads south to Fayetteville. This city is known for being the home of Tyson Foods World Headquarters, The Jones Center, Shiloh Museum, and NWA’s Northwest Arkansas Naturals baseball team. There are houses, townhomes, and apartments for rent or for sale all throughout Springdale. It is also a great location for a U of A student that doesn’t want to live in the busy college city, too. With Tyson World Headquarters, a Fortune 100 company, literally at your back door, there are more than enough jobs to fill, and The Jones Center is right down the road for your kids to mentor, be mentored, make art, play or swim at all day! The Arvest Ballpark is a great place to catch a Naturals game on the weekends, too.
You can find more of NWA’s inviting cities a little further north! Bentonville, a city in Benton county that has a population of over 50,000, draws attention these days for the major quality-of-life upgrades its added in the recent years like the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and The Scott Family Amazeum. Outside of those world-renowned museums, Bentonville is also home to the Walmart Stores Home Office, Brightwater Culinary School, and the Downtown Square. Bentonville being the location of the home office for Walmart, the retail king of the world, makes for a plethora of jobs, and a vast array of culture and art! People visit regularly from all over the world because of Walmart, and because of that there is no shortage in diversity and progression in this city. The Downtown Square is a sight to be seen around the holidays with the beautiful lights and water fountain that are surrounded by restaurants, shops, pet stores, and the original 5 & 10 Walmart store and museum that portrays the journey of the retail giant who lives here. There are homes, apartments, townhomes, and sustainable living for rent or for sale in Bentonville, which is a great thing with so many people who come long enough to fall for the city and relocate there! The city is full of bike and walking trails with the expansive Bentonville Community Center and the Bentonville Public Library to cover all the indoor hobbies. The downtown area, however, is one of NWA’s most popular places to visit after the end of the work day!
Rogers is another fun, full, and well known city in Benton county and it is right next door! This city has a population of over 67,000 and is actually home to the very first Walmart store that opened in 1962. Outside of that, it is known for its concert arena, the Walmart AMP, as well as its Pinnacle Hills Promenade, Daisy Airgun Museum, Railyard Bike Park, Beaver Lake, Rogers Aquatic Center, and Hobbs State Park. Rogers is where many of the 1,450 Walmart suppliers like Coca-Cola, Kimberly Clark and Unilever maintain offices. With all of the booming business filling the city, the call for housing is great, and you can choose to rent or buy a home, an apartment, or sustainable living facility in Rogers. The plethora of amenities is a wonderful reason to visit or even relocate to Rogers. It is just a few miles away from the local university, the local community college, the lake, the water park, one of the biggest outdoor malls in the state, and all of the Walmart Home Offices. Everything about this city makes it worth a visit!
The last of our highlighted cities that is more than worth the mention is also part of Benton county, is Bella Vista. Bella Vista has a population of over 28,000 and was originally established as a summer resort community back in 1965, but over time this city has become one of the state’s largest retirement communities. This city has now begun its new transition from being a retirement-focused community to happily welcoming in new young couples and families. Bella Vista residents get to enjoy seven lakes, a marina, miles of hiking trails and biking trails, seven golf courses, tennis courts, the Mildred Cooper Chapel, parks with playgrounds as well as dog parks, miles of gorgeous hiking and mountain bike trails, The Mildred Cooper Chapel, and the Veterans Wall of Honor. This city is a calm and beautiful area that the residents take pride in. It is a wonderful place to visit, and any of the neighbors here are happy to welcome transplants!
There are more things to do in the cities of NWA than any single person could ever manage in a day! There is more art, beauty and culture available in this area than possibly any place in the country. Some of the largest corporations in the country and in the world are based right her throughout NWA. There are employment opportunities at every corner, progressive positions for any person that wants to succeed in this area, and a multitude of options for art and nature lovers. These cities are the gems of the state, and the highlight of NWA and there is no doubt they are all worth every moment anyone could spare to enjoy it.
